Healing Through Movement & Expression
Solace Healing Arts offers trauma-informed movement and creative expression programs for children and youth affected by adverse experiences. Through yoga, dance, art, and other body-based modalities, we help young survivors reconnect with their bodies, process complex emotions, and reclaim joy.

Connection to ongoing support through Solace Therapy Center if desired
School and Community Partnerships

On-site programs reduce barriers to access and meet young people in familiar, comfortable environments.
Why Body Based Healing Matters
The Science Behind It
Trauma affects the body, not just the mind. When we experience overwhelming events, our nervous systems store those experiences in our muscles, breath patterns, and movement. Traditional talk therapy is powerful, but for many people—especially those who experienced trauma before they had words to describe it—healing requires reconnecting with the body.
What the Research Shows
-
Reduce trauma symptoms including anxiety, hypervigilance, and dissociation
-
Improve emotion regulation and distress tolerance
-
Increase feelings of safety and body ownership
-
Build resilience and coping skills
-
Complement and enhance traditional therapy outcomes
What Makes it Trauma Informed?
Invitation-based language: "You might try..." never "You must..."
No physical touch or adjustments
Opt-out is always honored
Predictable structure creates safety
Celebration of what each person discovers in their own body
No performance pressure—participation, not perfection
For youth who say, "I don't want to talk about it,"
Healing Arts offers a different door into healing.
