Pride Month is a time to honor the strength, joy, and brilliance of LGBTQ+ people — including the many survivors who continue to navigate healing in a world that has not always protected or affirmed them. At Solace, we recognize that LGBTQ+ survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and trafficking often face unique barriers to safety and support. Pride Month invites us to reflect on those realities while celebrating the resilience and courage that LGBTQ+ survivors carry every day.
For many, living authentically is an act of survival. It is an act of hope. It is an act of resistance.
LGBTQ+ survivors deserve spaces where they are believed, affirmed, and met with compassion. They deserve services that honor their identities, relationships, and lived experiences without judgment or assumption. They deserve communities that understand that healing is not one‑size‑fits‑all — and that safety looks different for everyone.
Pride Month reminds us that healing is not only possible, but powerful.
It shows up in the survivor who finds language for their identity for the first time.
In the person who reaches out for support after years of silence.
In the community member who chooses to show up as an ally, advocate, or safe person.
In the joy, creativity, and connection that LGBTQ+ people cultivate even in the face of harm.
As we honor Pride, we also acknowledge the ongoing work ahead. LGBTQ+ survivors continue to experience higher rates of violence, discrimination, and barriers to care. Many face rejection from family or community, limited access to affirming services, or fear of not being believed. Pride Month calls us to respond with action — to build systems and relationships that center safety, dignity, and belonging.
This month, and every month, we commit to:
Creating survivor‑centered spaces where LGBTQ+ people feel seen and supported
Listening deeply to the needs and experiences of LGBTQ+ survivors
Challenging stigma, discrimination, and harmful narratives
Providing affirming, trauma‑informed services that honor each person’s identity
Celebrating LGBTQ+ joy, resilience, and community as essential parts of healing
Pride is a celebration, and it is also a promise. A promise that every survivor deserves safety. Every survivor deserves care. Every survivor deserves to live fully and freely, without fear.
This June, we stand with LGBTQ+ survivors. We honor their stories, their strength, and the vibrant communities they create. And we continue working toward a world where every person can heal, thrive, and live with pride.
