Our Services

Comprehensive mental health support tailored to your unique needs

One-on-one therapy provides a confidential space to work through life's challenges at your own pace. Our therapists specialize in trauma-informed care and evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique needs and goals.

What Individual Therapy Addresses:

    • Trauma recovery and PTSD
    • Anxiety, panic, and stress management
    • Depression and mood disorders
    • Grief and loss
    • Self-esteem and identity development
    • Relationship patterns and interpersonal challenges
    • Life transitions and adjustment difficulties
    • Personal growth and self-discovery

Therapeutic Approaches We Use:

Our therapists are trained in multiple evidence-based modalities and will collaborate with you to determine which approach best fits your needs. These may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, person-centered therapy, and more.

What to Expect in Sessions:

Your first session focuses on getting to know you, understanding your concerns, and collaboratively developing treatment goals. Subsequent sessions typically last 50-60 minutes and follow a structure that works for you—whether that's processing difficult emotions, learning new coping skills, exploring patterns, or working toward specific behavioral changes. Therapy is a collaborative process; you're always in control of what you share and the pace of your healing.

Relationships are complex, and sometimes they need support to thrive. Our couples and family therapy services help you strengthen communication, resolve conflicts, heal from hurt, and build deeper connection.

Who Benefits from Couples & Family Therapy:

    • Couples experiencing conflict, communication breakdowns, or disconnection
    • Partners navigating trust issues, infidelity, or significant life changes
    • Families struggling with behavioral challenges, blended family dynamics, or trauma
    • Parents seeking support for their parenting relationship or co-parenting challenges
    • Couples or families wanting to strengthen their relationship and prevent future problems

Issues We Address:

    • Communication patterns and conflict resolution
    • Rebuilding trust and intimacy
    • Navigating major life transitions together (parenthood, career changes, illness, loss)
    • Managing stress and external pressures impacting the relationship
    • Addressing trauma's impact on family systems
    • Parenting challenges and family roles
    • Blended family integration
    • Relationship enrichment and growth

Our Approach to Relationship Work:

We use evidence-based approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method, and structural family therapy to help you understand patterns, improve communication, and create lasting change. Our therapists create a balanced, non-judgmental space where all voices are heard and valued.

What to Expect in Sessions:

Couples and family sessions typically last 50-75 minutes. Your therapist will help you identify patterns, practice new communication skills, process emotions safely, and work toward your relationship goals. Between sessions, you may be invited to practice new skills or complete exercises that support your growth together.

Ages Served:

We provide therapeutic services for children as young as 3 years old through adolescents age 18. Our therapists are trained in developmentally appropriate interventions for each age group.

How Play Therapy Works:

Play is the natural language of childhood. Play therapy uses toys, games, art, sand tray, and imaginative play to help children express emotions, process experiences, and develop coping skills in ways that feel safe and natural to them. For adolescents, we blend traditional talk therapy with creative and experiential approaches that engage their unique developmental needs.

Issues We Address:

    • Trauma processing and PTSD in children and teens
    • Anxiety, fears, and worry
    • Behavioral challenges and emotional regulation difficulties
    • Depression and mood concerns
    • Family transitions (divorce, new siblings, moves)
    • Grief and loss
    • Social skills and peer relationship challenges
    • Identity development and self-esteem
    • Witnessed or experienced abuse

Healing happens in relationship. We involve parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process through regular check-ins, skill-building sessions, and guidance on supporting your child's emotional development at home. We help you understand your child's behavior, strengthen your parent-child relationship, and create a home environment that supports healing.

Connection to Ongoing Services:

When appropriate, we connect families to additional Solace services like family therapy, parent support groups, or our Healing Arts programs designed for children and teens.

Change—even positive change—can be overwhelming. Whether you're navigating a planned transition or an unexpected shift, therapy can help you process emotions, adjust to new realities, and discover opportunities for growth.

Types of Transitions We Support:

    • Career changes, job loss, or retirement
    • Relationship changes (marriage, divorce, separation, dating after loss)
    • Becoming a parent or navigating empty nest
    • Major illness or chronic health diagnosis
    • Relocation or immigration
    • Identity transitions (coming out, gender identity, faith transitions)
    • Aging and life stage shifts
    • Educational transitions (starting college, graduation, career pivots)
    • Financial changes or major life decisions

How Therapy Helps with Adjustment and Growth:

Transitions often bring a mix of emotions—excitement, grief, anxiety, hope, confusion. Therapy provides a space to:

    • Process the losses inherent in change (even positive changes involve letting go)
    • Explore identity shifts and what this transition means for who you are
    • Develop coping strategies for uncertainty and stress
    • Identify your values and align your path forward with what matters most
    • Build confidence in your ability to navigate change
    • Discover opportunities for personal growth within the challenge

Building Resilience and Coping Skills:

Our therapists help you strengthen skills that will serve you not just through this transition, but throughout life—emotional regulation, problem-solving, self-compassion, communication, and adaptability.

Creating New Pathways Forward:

Transitions are opportunities to reimagine your life. We help you clarify your vision, set meaningful goals, and take concrete steps toward the future you want to create.

Many employers offer Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) as a free, confidential benefit to support employees' mental health and well-being. Solace Therapy Center partners with EAP providers to make accessing support simple and discreet.

What EAP Services Are:

EAP benefits typically provide a set number of free counseling sessions per issue per year (often 3-8 sessions). These sessions are completely confidential—your employer only knows that you accessed the benefit, not what you discussed or why you sought support.

Who Can Access:

If your employer offers EAP benefits, you and your eligible family members (typically spouses and dependent children) can use these services. EAP is available for any personal or work-related issue affecting your well-being, including stress, relationship concerns, mental health, substance use, work-life balance, and more.

How to Use EAP Benefits at Solace:

    • Contact your employer's EAP provider (this information is typically available through HR or your employee benefits portal)
    • Inform the EAP provider you'd like to use your sessions at Solace Therapy Center
    • The EAP will provide you with authorization and our contact information
    • Call Solace at 605-336-1974 to schedule your first appointment

Confidentiality and Workplace Connection:

Your therapy sessions are completely confidential. We do not share any information about your treatment with your employer. Your employer will only receive confirmation that you used your EAP benefit, with no details about the nature of your sessions.

What Happens After EAP Sessions End:

If you'd like to continue therapy after your EAP sessions are complete, we can discuss options including using insurance, sliding-scale fees, or other payment arrangements. You're never required to stop therapy just because EAP benefits end.

Our Approach:

At Solace Therapy Center, we believe healing happens in relationship—in the safe, compassionate space between therapist and client. Our approach is grounded in several core principles:
